The number of people accessing emergency accommodation in Kilkenny remains at 42, according to the latest 'homelessness report' from the Department of Housing.

This figure was recorded during the last full week of April 2024, and the same figure was recorded in March.

Despite the fact that the current local figure is marginally less than the figures recorded earlier in the year in February (44) and January (43), it comes as national figures have surpassed 14,000 for the first time.

It must be noted that these 'homelessness' figures do not include the ‘hidden homeless’ who might be sleeping rough, living in refuges, or staying with parents, relatives and friends.

A total of 285 people are accessing emergency accommodation across the South-East region, according to this latest report.
