Anne Maria Walsh
Senior Executive Officer at Kilkenny County Council, Anne Maria Walsh, has announced that she will be stepping down after a storied career of 46 years in public service.
The announcement was made during this month’s meeting of the elected members of Kilkenny County Council.
Anne Maria, originally from Tipperary, stated that ‘after a great career in Kilkenny, it was time to move on’.

“I will always remember the friendship and courtesy shown by elected members,” she said.
“I have worked with wonderful colleagues, great friends, thanks very much for everything.”
The current Chief Executive of Kilkenny County Council, Lar Power, described Anne Maria as ‘a very able and capable professional’.
Cllr Tomás Breathnach stated that Anne Maria’s departure will see her bring with her ‘a huge repository of the knowledge of the council’.
Many councillors spoke of their dealings with Anne-Maria in positive terms, with Mayor Andrew McGuinness commending her ability ‘to be able to whip councillors into shape’.
