Gardaí to carry out fresh review into Dean Roche case in Kilkenny

Gardaí in Kilkenny will carry out a review into the investigation of Dean Roche, who went missing in March, 2015.

A number of senior ranking gardaí including the Deputy Garda Commissioner, Shauna Coxon, Assistant Commissioner of the Eastern Region, Paul Cleary, Superintendent at Kilkenny Garda Station, Seán O’Meara met with friends and family of Dean Roche who was last seen alive in the Ballyfoyle area of Kilkenny on March 22, 2015.

Councillor Joe Malone, who is a friend of the Roche family also attended the meeting which took place at garda headquarters on the Hebron Road. Cllr Malone contacted Garda Commissioner, Drew Harris in June looking for the case to be re-examined.

“It was a productive meeting and the gardaí told us that they will carry out a review of the case and have appointed a senior investigating officer who will examine all aspects of the case and will meet with the family in six to eight weeks to update us if any evidence has come to light,” said Cllr Malone.

A number of searches are also expected to take place in the Ballyfoyle area, close to where Dean disappeared over the coming weeks. Over 300 statements have been made to gardaí in relation to the disappearance of Dean Roche and it is understood that these statements will be examined as part of the review into the case.

“Someone, somewhere knows something and they have to come forward so that Dean’s family and friends can finally get closure,” added Cllr Malone.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone with information into the disappearance of Dean Roche to come forward.

“We are appealing to anyone who knows anything to come forward, even the smallest piece of information could prove crucial,” said a garda spokesperson.

Dean Roche from Hebron Park in Kilkenny City went missing on the night of March 22, 2015 when he went to the Ballyfoyle area to buy a car, A short time after purchasing the case it was found crashed down the road, Dean vanished that night and there have been no sightings of him since.
