Kilkenny singers had a bitter sweet weekend in the semi-finals of the Junior Eurovision as one local girl advanced and another unfortunately bowed out.

Televised on TG4, Charlotte Mackay exited the competition despite an impressive performance of Lewis Capaldi's 'Hold Me While You Wait.'

However, there was positive local news on the evening as Castlecomer native Enya Cox Dempsey qualified for the final with her performance of Amy Whinehouse's 'Back to Back'.

Enya now advances to the final of the competition with the winner representing Ireland in the Eurovision grand finals in Madrid later this year.
