Kilkenny councillor hits out at 'outrageous gun policy in the USA'

Cllr Seán Ó hArgáin has described the terror attack in New Orleans as 'truly shocking' and has hit out at gun policy in the United States.

In a post on social media, the Labour councillor for Kilkenny City stated that, "like thousands of Irish people, we strolled down Bourbon Street last year when on holidays in New Orleans."

"Truly shocking that [the] New Year’s attack took place. It can’t be separated from the outrageous gun policy in the USA.

"It must stop."

At least 15 people were killed in the incident. FBI announced early on Wednesday that it is investigating the attack as a terrorist act and believes the driver did not act alone.
