CASTING CALL: Actors wanted for upcoming film in Kilkenny

Are you an aspiring actor or someone with a flair for the dramatic?

Kilkenny's own Young Irish Film Makers (YIFM) are looking for fresh talent to star in their upcoming short film, Our Song.

The film explores the emotional journey of an estranged mother and son as they navigate shared grief following the loss of a husband and father.

The production is casting for the following roles:

Rosalee (Female, 35–45): A grieving wife with a passion for music, hiding a significant secret from her son. (Lead)
Dimitri (Male, 16–19): An artistic son struggling to reconnect with his mother. (Lead)
Ivan (Male, 35–45): A musically gifted and loving husband and father who doesn’t return from war. (Lead)
Alexei (Male, 40–50): The bearer of tragic news about Ivan’s passing. (Supporting)
Young Rosalee (Female, 16–19): A younger, happier version of Rosalee. (Supporting)
Young Dimitri (Male, 11–14): The beloved son of Ivan and Rosalee during better times. (Supporting)

This is a unique opportunity for actors of all ages and backgrounds to gain valuable experience and build their showreels.

While the roles are unpaid, participants will work closely with YIFM's Sunday Weekenders group, known for nurturing emerging talent and creating top-quality productions.

Filming will take place in Kilkenny and the surrounding areas, beginning early 2025, with shooting scheduled every Sunday. The final wrap date is yet to be confirmed, so flexibility is encouraged for anyone interested.
