LATEST: Update on major plans for large site in Kilkenny

Gemstack Limited have submitted significant further information / revised plans to Kilkenny County Council for their application relating to a site at Deansground, Waterford Road, County Kilkenny (R95 RR27).

Planned (as per the original application) is the demolition of an existing shed along the north boundary and the removal of existing trees.

It is proposed that part of the existing wall and piers are planned to be removed by hand and reconstructed to facilitate the widening of the existing gate/entrance off Waterford Road.

A memorial garden and sculpture is proposed in front of the convent in remembrance of the St Joseph community.

Two separate blocks are proposed, Block A and Block B.

Block A is to be a four-storey building with 21 apartments located at the western corner of the site, and Block B is to be a five-storey building with 19 apartments located at the northern corner of the site, with a total of 40 units.

Also sought is the associated realignment of an internal road, car parking spaces, cycle parking, bin storage, landscaping, boundary treatments, drainage and all associated site works.

A new notice has been erected at the site that reads as follows:

"We, GEMSTACK LIMITED
Ref. No. of the application: 24/60350

The development applied for consisted of:

We, GEMSTACK LIMITED, intend to apply for permission for residential development at Waterford Rd,
Deansground, Co. Kilkenny.

Significant Further Information/Revised Plans has/have been furnished to the Planning Authority in respect of this proposed development, and is/are available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, at the Offices of the Planning Authority during its public opening hours of 9:00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and 2.00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
A submission or observation in relation to the further information or revised plans may be made in writing to the Planning Authority within a period of 2 weeks from the date of receipt of the revised public notices. A submission or observation must be accompanied by the prescribed fee of €20, except in the case of a person or body who has already made a submission or observation and such submission or observation will be considered by the Planning Authority in making a decision on the application. The Planning Authority may grant permission subject to or without conditions, or may refuse to grant permission."
