Kilkenny to host Ireland's first 'skinny dipping' festival
Kilkenny is set to add another colourful addition to its festival offering this year with confirmation that the city has been selected to host Ireland's first ever 'skinny-dipping' festival.
The festival, planned for July (dates to be confirmed), promises to be a bare-all celebration of freedom and fun.
It is expected to draw crowds of adventurous locals and tourists alike who are eager to dive in and experience something unlike anything ever seen before.

"We’ll be encouraging visitors to let it all hang out," said one of the festival's organisers.
"It’s all about embracing freedom, having fun and celebrating the wonderful and historic beauty of Kilkenny City."
If full-frontal swimming isn’t your thing, there will also be plenty of other activities, including 'Naked Truth or Dare' and a 'Bare-Naked Karaoke' stage on John's Quay.
Organisers would like to assure the people of Kilkenny that they are 'taking every precaution to make sure things stay lighthearted and fun'.
"There will be lifeguards, a designated area for changing, and privacy mats for those who need a little more coverage before they take the plunge," they stated.
“We’ve seen similar events abroad, and we believe Kilkenny’s vibrant spirit, sense of fun and festival pedigree make it the perfect place in Ireland for something like this,” the spokesperson continued.
For the duration of the festival, participants will enjoy a special 'naked pardon' to walk through the city without concern.
The relevant authorities have given their blessing, ensuring that festival-goers can stroll the streets in all their natural glory without fear of reprimand.
Whether you’re diving into the River Nore or simply strolling the Medieval Mile, the naked pardon will ensure everyone can roam freely without a stitch of clothing, or worry.
Now, before you start packing your towel, we should probably tell you that this is, in fact, an April Fool’s Day joke.
While the River Nore is definitely beautiful, and Kilkenny is always ready to bare its charm, there’s no skinny-dipping festival planned.
At least not this year - but who knows, right?
