EDF Renewables Ireland have appealed a decision by Kilkenny County Council to refuse permission for works associated with the proposed Seskin Wind Farm.
The proposed development includes underground 38kV cabling from the wind farm to the existing Kilkenny 110kV substation, joint bays, communication chambers, and earth sheath links along the route.
The works would involve road and track reinstatement, carriageway strengthening at Black Bridge, and a temporary access road off the N78 at Cloneen in County Kilkenny to facilitate turbine delivery.

The application, which also included ancillary site works, was refused by Kilkenny County Council.
The main issues identified by Kilkenny County Council in the refusal of EDF Renewables Ireland’s application related to cumulative grid congestion, detail and assessment, and road safety and structural concerns.
The decision is now under appeal to An Bord Pleanála and a decision is due in the coming months.
