Cllr Maurice Shortall has expressed shock at 'the level of littering in Ballyragget at Station Avenue' after a recent meeting with constituents in the area about their concerns.

"Cans, syringes and used condoms were scattered around the front of the estate with residents afraid to let their children out to play," he said.

"I’ve asked that local gardaí provide a stronger presence in the area (to be proposed at the next municipal district meeting) and a report has gone into the environment section [of Kilkenny County Council] to put an end to this."
