The animal welfare group, My Lovely Horse, has criticised the treatment of animals in this country after rescuing a number of dogs and puppies from the streets of Kilkenny on Monday.
Posting to social media, the group described the cruelty that poor animals endure as 'sickening'.
"TODAY'S EMERGENCY IN KILKENNY," a group spokesperson said.
"Six dogs safe tonight, god love them, poor mum and baby, she was fighting to protect her one and only baby, so skinny herself.

"The three puppies are little heart breakers, tiny sad babies. The poor Staffie boy is absolutely exhausted and was so scared. We had them all checked in Southview Veterinary Hospital," they continued.
"It's just awful that this is the country we live in, the cruelty that poor animals endure is sickening.
"Enough is enough," they added.
