Aislinn Nelson Comerford
Aislinn Nelson Comerford sadly passed away in July of last year after suffering a sudden pulmonary embolism, a form of thrombosis at the age of just 34.
She left behind a 10 month old son and had been married to her husband for just three months before her untimely passing.
In order to raise awareness about the risks of thrombosis and to honour Aislinn’s memory, her family have organised a charity walk and online fundraiser with all proceeds raised going to the Irish Heart Foundation.
The walk will take place in Kilkenny Countryside Park in Dunmore at 2pm on Saturday, September 6.

Thrombosis is often called a silent killer because it can strike without warning and many people are unaware of the symptoms until it’s too late.
Young mothers like Aislinn face particularly heightened risks. Pregnant and postpartum women can be up to 60 times more likely to develop blood clots and in Ireland, one in every 1,000 new mothers will experience a thrombosis event.
Her family’s mission is to ensure that Aislinn’s story helps save other lives by empowering people with the knowledge to identify thrombosis symptoms and get the urgent care that could make the difference between life and death.
The online fundraiser has raised more than four times its original target of €1,000 but donations can still be made at https://www.justgiving.com/page/aislinn-stepforward-1?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=EM.
