A significant number of Kilkenny people have been left feeling frightened following the circulation of a 'nasty' email attempting to blackmail locals to part with their cash.
The email claims to have access to a person's phone contact details and other private pieces of information. According to the sender, if the victim does not pay a sum of money within 48 hours they will send incriminating videos to all their contacts.
In response, the message from An Garda Síochana in Kilkenny is 'do not engage'.

"This email doing the rounds at the moment. Some indelicate language has been redacted but you get the idea," they posted to social media.
"Nasty, threatening and scary," they added.
