Leas-Cheann Comhairle John McGuinness has expressed his honour to be part of the welcome given to Ukrainian President olodymyr Zelensky and The First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, who addressed the joint houses of the Oireachtas.
McGuinness stated that the visit 'was essential to garner support from the EU at this critical time of peace negotiations'.

"As office holders of the upper and lower house of the Dáil and Seanad we had a private meeting with President Zelensky prior to his address to the Oireachtas," he said.
Speaking in the Dáil, President Zelensky thanked Ireland for not losing faith in Ukraine.
