Cllr Pat Fitzpatrick has called for urgent action on the Ardaloo Road in Threecastles expressing the need for improved signage and road markings as well as safety improvements at Ardaloo Bridge.

"There’s numerous, numerous accidents happening on that road," Cllr Pat Fitzpatrick remarked.

"For a long time the residents up there have been looking for a continuous white line on a section of it.

"We needs to ensure that safety is paramount there," he added.

Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Cllr Mary Hilda Cavanagh concurred, commenting, "This has been discussed at almost every meeting since I’ve been in the council and very little improvement has been done. Continuous white lines are absolutely essential," she said, claiming it’s the only way to stop reckless driving.

A Kilkenny County Council spokesperson said potential measures would be examined and an update would be provided.
