Torrential rain is expected across County Kilkenny over the next 24 hours as local communities prepare for the adverse weather.

Yellow Weather Warning is in place locally until 9am on Friday morning, with an impact already being felt.

The R693 North of Woodsgift Petrol Station is currently flooded but is passable with care according to Kilkenny County Council.

"Please reduce speed and plan extra travel time," a council spokesperson said.

The Yellow Warning is also in place for Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Wexford and Tipperary, as counties across the country brace themselves for more flooding.

Met Éireann has warned that spells of very heavy rain falling on already saturated ground combined with high river levels and high tides will lead to flooding and difficult travel conditions.

In response, Kilkenny County Council has made sandbags available at a number of locations. SEE BELOW:
