Sum of €42,000 for one Kilkenny town in latest Town and Village funding allocation

Funding of €42,075 has been made available for Johnstown in North Kilkenny under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.

Fine Gael TD John Paul Phelan has welcomed the latest investment. The funding is part of over €800,00 nationwide.

“This funding has been set aside for a public realm plan and a planning application for the redevelopment of derelict buildings in the town square. It is also targeted at financing the redesign of the toilets and yard in the area.

“I welcome the announcement and am anxious that work would begin as soon as possible,” Deputy Phelan said.

This strand makes funding of up to €50,000 available to local authorities to assist them to contribute to a pipeline of significant, well-developed projects which will subsequently progress to construction stage with the help of more investment in the future.

The funding follows on from the announcement last week of almost €18.5 million under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme, which supported 99 projects across the country.
