New 'high-power electric vehicle charging hub' for Kilkenny

Permission has been granted to 'Applegreen Electric IRL Service Areas Ltd' by Kilkenny County Council for the development of a high-power electric vehicle charging hub and associated infrastructure at Applegreen Motorway Service Area, Jordanstown, Paulstown, County Kilkenny.

This is to include the installation of eight electric vehicle bays and four charging points powered by 100% renewable energy.

Plans also spought the installation of new canopy with associated illuminated signage, a new modular ESB substation, associated revisions to existing parking bays, landscape renewal with native tree species and revised parking bay markings.

Permission was granted by Kilkenny County Council, subject to eight conditions, on April 2, 2025.
