ALERT: Irish consumer group identifies electric shock risk in SIX products sold online

An Irish consumer group has identified a risk of electric shock in six products sold on a popular online platform. 

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has recalled the electrical products - all of which are sold on AliExpress - due to a potential risk to consumer safety. 

Products include the Dodocool TP-VF4U12S Power Strip Tower, Modern Resin Mouse Table Lamp Desk Light Study Kids’ Room Indoor Decorative LED Night Lights Home Lamp, DYF-S-A 340600-01A Replacement Charger, Power Strip Extension Socket with USB ports, Ftewum replacement AC laptop adapter, and the Nordic LED Musical Note Desk Table Lamp. 

According to the CCPC, none of the products meet the requirements of the relevant safety standard. 

The Modern Resin Mouse Table Lamp was found to contain metal parts insulated from live parts only by basic insulation, which can break down over time, causing accessible metal parts. 

Live parts of the Replacement Charger are accessible to consumers, who may touch a live part when plugging in or unplugging a plug from the socket. 

Consumers who purchased any of the above products are advised to discontinue use immediately and discard.
