It was déjà vu for gardaí this week after they stopped the same vehicle for the same offences almost exactly a year apart.
The van was first pulled over in June 2024, when gardaí found it had no tax, insurance or CVRT. The driver attempted to fool gardaí by displacing a tax disc from another vehicle and later tested positive for cannabis, resulting in an arrest.
Fast forward just shy of a year to this week, when the same driver was caught back on the road with the same van, which was still untaxed, uninsured, and without a valid CVRT.
This time, the driver tested positive not only for cannabis but also for benzodiazepines and amphetamines.
Gardaí shared the story on social media, writing: "More than just a sense of deja vu. Gardaí in Cork stopped this vehicle with no insurance, tax or CVRT in June 2024. The driver attempted to deceive Gardaí by putting a tax disc on display for another vehicle. The driver also tested positive for cannabis and was arrested.
"The same vehicle was stopped for the same offenses yesterday. Still no tax, insurance on CVRT. Driver tested positive for cannabis, benzodiazepines and amphetamines."
