ALERT: Irish customers urged to stop using Amazon heaters over fears of 'fire and burns'

Irish customers have been advised of a safety issue with a certain batch of mini electric heaters sold on Amazon which present the risk of "electric shock, fire and burns."

According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), the issue has been identified with the Electric Heater 1200W Ceramic Heater Fan as well as Plug in Space Heaters for Home Low Energy XH-1201.

The CCPC has said that the product failed mechanical strength testing which can lead to parts breaking and giving access to live parts and causing electric shock.

As well as this, the heaters are not resistant to heat and fire and so this can lead to overheating parts which can potentially cause fire propagation within the appliance or to surrounding materials. This can then result in fire and burns.

The CCPC added that the product does not have the correct markings and instructions required under the relevant safety legislation.

If you believe you have one of these heaters sold online through Amazon, the CCPC has urged to "discontinue use immediately."

The impacted model number is XH-1201. The Amazon ASIN is B0CMCZT6QR. The manufacturer is Ikram & Sons Limited.
