A lucky staycationer? Winning €500,000 EuroMillions ticket sold in popular seaside town

A €500,000 winning EuroMillions ticket was sold in the popular seaside town of Courtown, Co Wexford, the National Lottery has revealed.

The winning player who bought a Quick Pick ticket matched all five numbers in Friday night's EuroMillions Plus draw, bagging €500,000 in the process.

The winning ticket was purchased on August 7 from Gala Express, Courtown Harbour, Courtown, Co. Wexford. It could belong to a lucky tourist with thousands of people flocking to towns like Courtown over the school summer holidays.

The winning numbers in last night’s (Friday, 8th August) EuroMillions Plus draw were: 5, 21, 26, 27 and 40.

While there was no winner of the EuroMillions jackpot worth €197,504,622, over 68,000 players won prizes in the EuroMillions & EuroMillions Plus draws.

Darragh O’Dwyer, National Lottery Spokesperson said: “The seaside town of Courtown in Ireland’s sunny South East has produced a top prize winner in the EuroMillions Plus draw worth an astounding €500,000. If you bought your ticket in Courtown, now’s the time to double check, you could be Ireland’s newest big winner.”
