'A miracle the house didn't go up too': Car bursts into flames outside home in Limerick

A CAR BLAZE erupted with such force that it blew in windows of a house in a residential estate in Limerick, Limerick Live has reported.

The blaze that tore through the vehicle in a housing estate that stopped motorists in their tracks on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency services attended the scene of the car fire just after 4pm on Thursday, August 21.

A spokesperson for Limerick Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that they received the first call about the fire at 4.21pm.

Three units from Limerick City Fire Station attended the scene, before returning to base at 5.33pm.

It is understood that the car went up in flames due to a fault, with damage being caused to the dwelling house, including windows being blown in.

A passenger in a passing vehicle who recorded the scene exclaimed: "Oh my God" on witnessing the scene.

One local told Limerick Live: "It's a miracle the house didn't go up too. The firefighters were on in no time and put it out."

The local described the incident as a "scary thing to happen during the day but at least it wasn't in the middle of the night when people would be asleep".

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that gardaí attended the scene: "Gardaí assisted Fire Services with an incident of fire in Annacotty, Co. Limerick on Thursday 21st August 2025 at approximately 4:20pm.

"No offences have been disclosed at this time."
