Galway SPCA rescue story

An animal rescue in Ireland has shocked hundreds of people on social media with a rescue case of two young puppies.

The puppies were dumped in a field in Galway when a man who came across them had surrendered them to Galway SPCA.

The rescue said: "This is where and how these babies were found...you can see the flies buzzing around and on them...left to die, thrown out like rubbish amongst rubbish," and shared a video of the puppies squirming around in the field they were rescued from.

The post, along with photos of the rescued pups, has received hundreds of shocked and angry comments from people across the country who are outraged by the incident.

The post said: "This kind man offered to bring these two babies up to our sanctuary as we went back into work to prepare somewhere for them to go for the night".

"But the minute our kennel manager saw them she knew it was going to be a late night emergency dash to our vets. Two teeny tiny babies of around 5/6 weeks old...
"Emaciated....dehydrated, cold and definitely needing a vet....their fur covered in fly eggs...some had already hatched and maggots were already crawling under their skin....inside their mouths and back passage...
"Another 24 hrs these babies would be dead ..their bodies growing weaker by the hour as the maggots ate through their flesh".
The rescue said that this was their fifth set of sick puppies to come through their gates in the last month.
"Tonight we go to bed feeling somewhat defeated, sad, overwhelmed and angry....we shouldn't have to watch as our vet removes live maggots from the bodies, eyes and mouth of innocent babies like these....we shouldn't have to hold their weak , underweight, cold bodies in our arms as we drive to our vets instead of going home to our own homes and families...but we do.....because its who we are," the post on Facebook said.
