Irish tourists have been advised to "take extreme precaution" as parts of Spain and the Balearic Islands braces for Storm Alice in the coming days.

Storm Alice is the first major storm of the 2025/2026 season to hit Spain, with heavy rain set to batter eastern parts of the  Iberian Peninsula on Wednesday, 8 October and Thursday, 9 October.

Orange and Yellow weather warnings have been issued for many parts of the country for Wednesday and Thursday. 

Spain's national weather forecaster, AEMET, has warned that areas of Castilla-La Mancha within the Orange Warning could face "significant danger" and "serious damage could occur."

The popular tourist destination for Irish holidaymakers, Alicante, has also been issued a Yellow Warning this Wednesday and Thursday ahead of Storm Alice. Ibiza and Barcelona have also been issued Yellow and Orange Warnings for Thursday.

AEMET has advised that areas with Yellow Warnings will be "monitored" closely.

The forecaster has even suggested that the heavy downpours could last until Sunday.
