Young man (20s) dies after late-night 'disturbance' involving 'group of individuals'

A young man in his 20s has died following a late-night fatal assault on Saturday.

Gardaí said they were called to Curragh Hall Crescent in Tyrrelstown, Dublin 15, at around 10.30pm "following reports of a disturbance involving a group of individuals."

"When Gardaí arrived, those involved had dispersed," a spokesperson confirmed. "A short time later, a male in his 20s arrived at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown with serious injuries. The male was subsequently pronounced deceased."

A man in his 20s has since been arrested and is being detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at a Garda station in the Dublin region.

"The scene at Curragh Hall is currently preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau," Gardaí said. "The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified."

A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the inquiry from Blanchardstown Garda Station, and a Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to support the family of the deceased.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward, saying: "Anyone with information is asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí confirmed.
