Two men from Kilkenny were outstanding in their field on day one of this year's National Ploughing Championship.
In the Under 28 class the winner was local man PJ Hartley, and leading his team from the front, coach Brian Ireland tied for first in his class. Well done lads and best of luck to the team over the next two days!
The Kilkenny team in action this week are: Gary Ireland, Brian Ireland, Daniel O’Dwyer, John Cottrell, Tommy Cuddihy, Willie Ryan, Conor Ryan, Siobhán Dermody, PJ Hartley, James Aylward, Evan Srouji, Pat Doyle, Tommy Kielty, Shane Doyle and Aoife Hennessy.
They're competing under the watchful eye of coach Brian Ireland. Brian will also be the team Ireland coach when the team travels to the International Ploughing Championships, next month.
Despite the bad weather, more than 66,000 people attended the first day of the National Ploughing Championships at Ratheniska in County Laois, on Tuesday.
