Hotel Kilkenny hitting the road Down Under
Tourism Ireland’s 2018 sales mission to Australia and New Zealand is taking place this week. A delegation of 11 tourism companies, including Hotel Kilkenny, from the island of Ireland is participating in the targeted sales mission, to grow tourism from both markets.
This week, the companies from Ireland – including hoteliers, visitor attractions and destination management companies – will meet and conclude deals with around 500 Australian and New Zealand tour operators and travel agents, in the key cities of Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland. They will also brief local travel editors and bloggers, highlighting why the island of Ireland is such a great choice for holidaymakers from ‘Down Under’. The busy programme includes workshops, presentations, sales calls and networking events.
Ireland has seen good growth in visitor numbers from Australia and New Zealand over the past few years, with a record 228,000 people visiting in 2017.
Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “Our sales mission is a key element of our programme of activity in Australia and New Zealand, as we kick-start our promotional effort for 2019. We are highlighting a number of key themes in each city – including the Wild Atlantic Way, Dublin, Belfast, the Causeway Coastal Route and Ireland’s Ancient East. The sales mission gives our tourism partners from Ireland a really good platform to inform and influence the travel professionals they meet about what the island of Ireland has to offer and, importantly, encourage them to include the destination in their future brochures and programmes.”
Companies taking part in Tourism Ireland’s 2018 sales mission to Australia and New Zealand are: Adams & Butler, Belmond Grand Hibernian, Griffin Group, Guinness Storehouse, House of Waterford Crystal, Original Irish Hotels, Railtours Ireland First Class, Teeling Whiskey Distillery, The Merrion Hotel, Titanic Belfast and Wicklow’s Historic Gaol.
