Christmas has come early for food and wine lovers visiting Kilkenny this month as Rinucinni’s prepares to host an incredible eight-course Truffle Tasting Menu paired with the finest Italian wines. Created exclusively to celebrate World Italian Cuisine Week, which takes place worldwide from 20th to 26th November, this special tasting menu positions one of Rinucinni’s most unique gourmet ingredients as the star of the show.
Highlights from this Truffle Tasting Menu include chef Antonio’s handmade organic egg pasta stuffed with Kilmore Quay prawns and fresh black truffle, a starter dish of duck liver pâté with fresh black truffle, pickled mushroom and rocket which is paired with a glass of 2012 Grecco, from the wonderful family run vineyard Corte Normanna and a sweet treat of warm pear, poached in Barolo red wine, mascarpone, toasted hazelnuts and fresh mandarin.
Passionate about every single dish they serve, head chef Antonio and his team at Rinucinni’s source only the finest quality Italian ingredients for their kitchen. A large emphasis is also placed on incorporating the best local produce where possible. The Scallopine di Vitello Piccante (escallops of Kilkenny rose veal with fresh tomato, black olives and anchovy) is an excellent example of this culinary dedication and will be enjoyed alongside a glass of Sergavio IGT 2011 - a 100% Sangiovese wine with attitude and a very individual character.
