Six Men's Sheds groups in Kilkenny are to benefit from government funding, it was announced today (Monday).
The groups in Callan, Castlecomer, Thomastown, Kilkenny city, Fen (Kilkenny) and DGK (Cuffesgrange) have been approved to receive funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development - a total of €8,696.
Minister Michael Ring announced the allocation of €the funding under the Men’s Sheds stream of the Community Enhancement Programme. This will enable individual Men’s Sheds to upgrade their facilities by purchasing equipment or by carrying out minor works to improve their shed. The initiative was developed in association with the Irish Men’s Sheds Association.
Grants awarded to the Kilkenny Men's Sheds
Callan Men's Shed - €1,449 for equipment
Castlecomer Men's Shed - €900 for wheelchair accessible planters
DGK Men's Shed (Cuffesgrange) - €1,586.75 for fitness/ gym equipment
Fen Men's Shed (Newpark, Kilkenny city) - €1,586.75 for electric supply and plumbing
Kilkenny Men's Shed - €1,586 for a steel shed and to build a storage area for timber
Thomastown Men's Shed - €1,586.75 for the completion of ground works for the erection of a shed
