People all over Ireland have been encouraged to step up together and take part in the GOAL Mile this festive season with their friends and families.

A busy calendar of events, which began with the first GOAL Mile in the Castle Park earlier this month, ramps up over Christmas, with the Shamrocks GAA club hosting an event at their grounds on Saturday at 11am.

Shamrocks and Kilkenny hurler Eoin Cody, who captained the Cats to the All-Ireland final this year, is one of the GOAL Mile ambassadors for 2023.

People looking to work up an appetite on Christmas Day can take on their choice of two events on the big day. Carrickshock GAA club host the Mile event in Hugginstown on Christmas Day at 11am, while the traditional yuletide GOAL Mile on Market Street in Thomastown will be held at noon.

There will be two more GOAL Mile events on St Stephen’s Day in the county. Mullinavat and Danesfort GAA clubs will open their grounds to runners and walkers of all ages at 11am, the Mullinavat event doubling as the official opening of the club’s new walkway.

Prizes
This year, people who have registered for the GOAL Mile also have the opportunity to win one of 10 prizes of €1,000 for their local GAA club.

To win one of these prizes, people can register for their GOAL Mile and then enter their details into the AIB GAA GOAL Mile competition at www.goalmile.org.
