Representatives of Cois Nore were in Woodsgift for the cheque presentation from the Happy Valley Tractor Run
The Happy Valley Tractor and Truck Run has raised over €25,000 for Cois Nore Cancer Support Centre.
The second Happy Valley Tractor and Truck Run took place New Year’s Eve and with over 100 vehicles taking part, it was an even greater success than its first year.
An auction of items donated by local people and businesses was skilfully handled by well-known Kilkenny auctioneer George Candler and this was followed by a monster Raffle held in the Valley Inn that night.
The cheque for €25,755 was recently presented to Dr Bill Cuddihy, Chairperson of Cois Nore.
Dr Cuddihy said that Cois Nore relies heavily on fundraised income to keep the free-of-charge service going.
“The community in Woodsgift have been amazing in the way they have come together to help us to support families all over Kilkenny who are dealing with a cancer diagnosis,” he said.
“They are a really good example of a community coming together and getting behind the vision Cois Nore have of ensuring the people of Kilkenny can avail of much needed cancer support services here in their own area.’’
Chairperson of the Happy Valley Run Mervyn Queally thanked Norton Engineering for the use of their premises and yard which facilitated the running of this event.
He also thanked Liam Comerford of the Valley Inn, the many local businesses and people who donated so generously towards the auction and the raffle, and everyone who helped out in so many ways to raise the money for Cois Nore.
