Urlingford Community Hall
The Urlingford Community Centre refurbishment project has gotten a huge boost today with a funding injection of €500,000.
Minister Heather Humphreys announced the funding under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
Cllr Mary Hilda Cavanagh welcomed the announcement, and said that great credit goes to the Urlingford Town Team who played a huge role in making it happen. "It's fantastic to have this facility in Urlingford," Cllr Cavanagh said.
The investment is being provided under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme with a particular emphasis on the revitalisation of rural town centres, which is a key objective of the Our Rural Future and Town Centre First Policies.
Two other projects in Kilkenny have also been allocated funding, bringing today's announcement for the county to a total of €995,000.
Deputy John McGuinness has also welcomed the news three projects in County Kilkenny are to receive Government funding under the “Our Rural Future” scheme which is aimed at regeneration projects in rural towns and villages. Deputy McGuinness said, “this is very positive news for Kilkenny and I’m delighted to see the hard work that is put into these projects is paying off with this substantial Government investment.”
“I am also pleased to see a number of successful projects which will see vacant and derelict buildings brought back into use and repurposed with Community Halls and Youth Centres being provided," the minister said. "This is Our Rural Future in action, delivering at local level and making a real difference in our rural towns and villages”
