Joe Coogan says he is delighted to congratulate Castlecomer girl Lisa O’ Rourke on her Kilkenny Rose selection, wishing her the best of luck in Tralee.

Joe is one of Lisa’s primary sponsors for the competition. Before she departed, the Rose stopped by the garden of the Auction Room at Ballycomey House, Castlecomer, where Joe wished her all the best, and had time for a quick puck around. The local auctioneer has known Lisa’s family many years, and Joe’s late father Martin was very friendly with Lisa’s grandfather Johnny (91), who will be cheering her on in Tralee

She had a special send-off party from the Avalon House on Thursday, with the Castlecomer Male Voice Choir providing the music. Lisa's late mother Eilis was from Muckalee village, and her family ran the local shop for many years. SEE PICTURES OF LISA BEING CROWNED ROSE HERE
