"We may start thinking outside the box" - Kilkenny town left battling flooding

Freshford has been hit hard by flooding in recent years

North Kilkenny-based councillors have universally commended the actions of the public, local authority and fire services in their response to flooding in Freshford last week.

Councillors also argued the time is now for a permanent solution, signposting cleaning and funding as solutions.

"It's not today or yesterday we've had this situation happening," Cllr John Brennan said.

"It’s down to having the funding available," adding, "the pipe network is all out of date.
