The annual Easter Commemoration took place in Freshford on Sunday, April 5 in brilliant sunshine, attended by a large crowd who were entertained by local musicians.

John Meagher MC opened proceedings and the Flying Column were led in by the Ceoltoiri School Band in full Rhythm. The guest of honour, MEP Billy Kelleher, then read the Proclamation. Fittingly a rendition of the Dying Rebel with Gary on Guitar and Gillian on vocals was followed by Eleanor reciting Padraig Pearse, next came a selection of poems read by Rita Campion, Seamus Bergin and Brian Maher.

The Ceoltoiri School Band accompanied by Mary Kelly played a variety of tunes, Gillian then sang Grace. A wreath was laid by local councillor Michael McCarthy. More music was provided by Ceoltoiri School Band. READ MORE - WHAT'S ON IN KILKENNY
