Concern has been raised by numerous people in relation to a leak at Ballyragget Water Tower.

Cllr Maurice Shortall has received an update confirming Irish Water have agreed a scope of works with a contractor to undertake cleaning and repair of this reservoir.

“This works is due to commence before the end of October and will take approximately 3 weeks to complete. The Contractor who will be undertaking the work is McBreen Environmental who are currently engaged by Irish Water to undertake cleaning and repair of reservoirs in Castlecomer. A bypass pipework is being installed by Murphy Group in advance of McBreen work. Murphy’s have recently completed the installation of a nitrates removal plant along with UV and chlorination plant at the reservoir site to allow for lifting of the “do not consume” notice for infants on the Ballyragget scheme,” said Cllr Shortall.
