RIP: Kilkenny parish mourns the death of a 'true lady'

From this week’s Castlecomer Notes in the Kilkenny People
Barrack Hill has lost one of its more senior and respected women with the death of Maureen Callery at Castlecomer District Hospital.
In her 96th year she was a true lady whose friendly disposition endeared her to her many friends, neighbours and the community at large. A native of Roscommon, she moved to the town in the 1970s with her husband Larry who took up employment in Glanbia, Ballyragget.
Maureen continued her hairdressing career, working with her niece Catherine Hughes in Barrack Street. She cherished her family and the community with respect and affection and this was testament to the high esteem in which she was held throughout the area.
She was laid to rest in the Parish Cemetery after Requiem Mass celebrated in the Church of the Immaculate Conception by Fr Ian Doyle, Associate Priest, Castlecomer. Predeceased by her husband Larry, Maureen is survived by her daughters Yvonne, Audrey and Lorraine; son Thomas; grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends in Castlecomer and her native Roscommon.
