A woman who died following a two-vehicle collision on what has become an accident blackspot in Kilkenny, has been laid to rest in her native Co. Wexford.

The funeral of Veronica O'Grady, known to family and friends as Ronnie, was held on Monday in St Peter's Church in Ballymitty. Ronnie had lived, with her husband and two children, at Shanoule, Foulksmills.

Fr Matthew Boggan, who celebrated Ronnie's funeral mass, described her as an "extraordinary mother" to her children Tiarnan  and Saoirse, and a "very loving wife" to her husband Declan.

Ronnie was an ICU nurse at University Hospital Waterford (UHW) and had celebrated her 55th birthday just three days before the road accident, on April 22.

She was the daughter of the late John and Rena and sister of Alison, Desmond, Claire, Helen and Shane. Ronnie will also be mourned by her mother-in-law Kathleen, Andreea, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
