Captains Finbar O’Neill and Rebecca Nixon had their drive-in in front of an enthusiastic gathering of members and friends at Mount Juliet GC on Saturday.
The morning competition, scheduled to run in conjunction with the drive-in, had to be held over for a time due to frost. Following a two-hour delay the competition had to be abandoned, but a large crowd turned up in the afternoon for the big event.
The incoming captains were joined by John Hession, the new junior captain, and together all three completed the formalities of driving-in with impressive tee shots. The three captains were joined in the clubhouse for the official handing over of office by last year’s captains, with a social evening in the clubhouse followed by dinner in Kendall’s Restaurant completing the ceremony.
There were plenty of good wishes offered to both incoming captains who will have a difficult task to follow in the footsteps of their popular predecessors Dermot Divilly, Dorothy Kilroy and junior captain Luke Donnelly.
