PURCELL SHIELD - There was heartbreak for the Mountain View Pierce Purcell team, who lost 3-2 to Borris on Sunday.

Having edged out Waterford GC by just one point on Saturday they qualified to play Borris in Sunday’s final. With the teams tied at two matches each a putt on the 18th is all that separated the two teams in the final match.

Thanks went to Bee O’Grady, director of golf at Mountain View, team managers Patrick Halligan and Willie Grace on their team selection. To get to Sunday’s final was a great achievement the dedication of players and management was hugely apparent on both days. Team members were E. Walsh, G. Barcoe, A. Brownrigg, J. Clarke, J. Byrne, F. Costello, K. Kelly, K. Kavanagh, B. Hearne and F. Kavanagh.
