Staunton shoots great score

THE first round of the rearranged Puc Challenge/Winter League competition was held at Gowran Park GC at the weekend, in conjunction with an 11 hole singles competition.

THE first round of the rearranged Puc Challenge/Winter League competition was held at Gowran Park GC at the weekend, in conjunction with an 11 hole singles competition.

Pat Staunton (19) had a great score of 24 points over the 11 holes to take first place. Pat O’Hara (1) scored 23 points took the runners-up spot. Joe Lannon (12) scored 22 points to finish third.

The second round of the Winter League will be held this weekend, running in conjunction again with an 11 hole singles event.

AUTUMN - The latest round of the Autumn Series Singles drew a large crowd to the course last week.

Former Wicklow footballer Raymond Danne, playing off 5 from Baltinglass, took the leading qualifier spot with 40 points. Gowran Park members Seamus Brennan and Alan Cleere took the remaining two spots for the final, which will be held on December 16.

The next round of the Series will be held on Thursday and Friday. Timesheet details from 056-7726699.

RESULTS - Results, Autumn Series singles qualifier, November 10/11: 1 Raymond Danne (Baltinglass, 5), 40pts; 2 Seamus Brennan (9), 35pts; 3 Alan Cleere (18), 33pts.

Results, Ladies weekly 11 hole stableford: 1 Eithne Donnelly (33), 22pts (c/b); 2 Hilary Dick (19), 22pts (c/b); 3 Ger Hickey (21), 22pts (c/b).
