RECENTLY Lahart’s Skoda sponsored what was an excellent night of tennis at the Kilkenny club. The conditions were perfect.
The standard of prizes on offer made this an excellent night’s work for the winners and runners-up. Brian Doyle again added his touch to the food side of things and this was complimented by music provided by Vinny Vauhgan.
Because of a large entry, four sections were organised. Section A was won narrowly by the ever diligent ex-Captain Pat Brett and partner Sue Keohane. Runners-up were club Preisdent Joe Kelly and Carmel Nolan.
Section B was as tight affair with Bernie Halpin and Dinny Brennan edging out Ken Bartley and Rena O’Connor. Ken was celebrating his first win in a competion since joining the club, and he celebrated in style. S
ection C produced a very interesting contest with just a few points separating the finalists. Visitor Tim Brennan and Jackie Feely won the group and Sean Donnelly and Kathleen Butler were the runners-up.
The hard fought section D produced excellent fare. Winners here were Orla Donovan and Nollaig Cotter. The runners-up were Richie Bowen and Muireann Maher.
There are only a few days left to finish playing games in the Frostbite League. Tuesday, March 19 is the closing date. All queries to Reina (086-3060449).
