CYCLING and charity will join up when the Deenside Wheelers hold their Ladies Sportive this weekend.
The Castlecomer-based Wheelers will hit the road on Sunday, tackling two different routes as they raise money for Rehab Care in Kilkenny.
The ladies can choose from a 50km route which brings cyclists on a loop from Castlecomer to Durrow and back again, or a 100km cycle which will see them travel towards Portlaoise and down as far as Urlingford before returning home.
Cyclists will leave from Wandesforde National School, Castlecomer at 10am (registrations start at 9am).
Both routes will meet at The Castle Arms Hotel Durrow for a food stop. There will be mechanical support on the road, lead car and full stewarding and marshalling with well signed routes.
The cost of entry is €20 plus €2 for a one-day licence for cyclists without a Cycling Ireland licence. Cycling helmets are compulsory. Roads are open to the public and rules of the road apply.
Cyclists of all abilities are invited to get involved.
