After a long and relatively successful season for Team Left Bank Kilkenny, their reward is a play-off home game against Premier League opposition in Kilkenny this weekend.
It has been decades since a top flight team have played a competitive match in O’Loughlin Gaels, which is the hub of Kilkenny basketball. It is a venue no team in the country fancies visiting. Belfast Star, who came fifthth in Premier League this year with a record of nine wins and nine losses, will be visitors on Saturday.
The home crowd, which is one of the best in the country, creates a fantastic atmosphere and at times the noise is deafening. This is what Kilkenny basketball is all about.
The Left Bank team were in a period of transition this year, but the target was to reach the play-off competition and have a good run in the cup.
These targets have been met with the club narrowly losing out in the final seconds in the All-Ireland Cup final, but the journey is not over yet. Home advantage is huge as the team get ready to face their toughest opposition of the year this weekend.
The club has appealed to people to attend the game and get behind Team Left Bank as they look to create further history this year.
