SAINT Senan’s athlete Sean Caulfield was in international action in Scotland recently.
Caulfield was a member of the Irish team who competed at the recent British & Irish Masters Cross-Country international, which was held in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow.
The race featured athletes from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England. The event was run in very wet and windy conditions over an extremely difficult hilly course. There were categories for athletes over-35, 40, 45, 50, 55 and 60, with individual and team prizes on offer.
Competing in the over-45 category, Caulfield ran a great race. He finished ninth overall, scoring on the Irish team and helping them to a silver medal finish behind England in the team event. Northern Ireland was third, with Wales fourth and Scotland fifth.
