THERE was no competitive action in Kilkenny over the weekend, but athletes were kept busy when they took part in a successful county squad training session in Grennan, Thomastown on Friday.
Athletes will be back in action this weekend at the opening round of the Leinster Championships in Mullingar.
On Monday the Dublin Marathon takes place with over 14,000 entrants. The marathon incorporates the National Championships and promises to be a great occasion both for participants and spectators alike.
Other fixtures on the calendar for 2011 include the Leinster Cross-Country uneven ages (under-11 to under-19) and intermediate championships, which will be held Adamstown, Co Wexford on Sunday, November 13.
The county cross-country B championships (novice) will be held in Thomastown on Sunday, November 20. The Woodies DIY inter-counties and juvenile even aged cross-country championships will be held in Sligo a week later.
Finally, December sees the Woodies DIY AAI novice and juvenile uneven aged cross-country championships take centre-stage on Sunday, December 11. Locally, the county senior men’s and women’s cross-country championships will be held in Gowran on Sunday, December 18.
