DATES for this year’s annual meetings have been confirmed for the members of Callan GC.
The ladies annual meeting is set for Friday, December 2 with the men’s section holding theirs the following night (Saturday, December 3). That night will also see the presentation of the matchplay awards as well as the Player of the Year award in what should be an excellent pre-Christmas social event.
With regard to the meetings, now is the time when committee members are required for next year’s varying committees. The club would welcome volunteers from all sections of the club to nominate themselves for committees or sub-committees by contacting Margaret in the office or a committee member from 2011.
It has been a wonderful year for people making themselves available for the varying positions of responsibility - when there are many people involved it makes the jobs much easier and more enjoyable. Volunteers needed for many positions with course, etiquette, fund-raising, sponsorship, junior section, club classics, competitions, team management, handicaps, social events and multimedia communications all needing assistance. An hour helping out here and there can make a massive difference to the club.

The Open two-person team event, which is sponsored by Avent Print and Design, will be the highlight of the Bank Holiday Weekend. The competition, which runs on Sunday and Monday, is open to teams of any combination.
