Swimmers do well in short course gala

THE Leinster Distance graded short course swimming gala was held in the National Aquatic Centre, Dublin on Sunday.

THE Leinster Distance graded short course swimming gala was held in the National Aquatic Centre, Dublin on Sunday.

Kilkenny swimming club had a big entry in this gala, which is one of the first of the short course season. The Kilkenny swimmers performed very well with a mixture of ages from 9 to 22 years and they brought home a lot of medals over the seven grades.

The swimmers who attended were - Jane Roberts, Jess Stallard, Kate Walsh, Rianne Byrne, Lindsey Dillon, Catherine Brennan, Eimear Conroy, Sarah Kenrick, Aoife Corr, Ciara Corr, Caoimhe Ryan, Yuan O Neill, Sara Brown, Thea Heart, Laura Hayes, Amy O Connell, Rebecca Cord, Meabh Ruane, Sophie Heart, Kaitlyn Ducie, Rachel Dick, Polly Peters, Nia Pewis, Nessa Ruane, Anna Mc Cabe and Jane Lawlor in the girls.

In the men’s sections were Michael McCarthy, Colm Dowling, David Prendergast, Brendan Neary, Liam Lanigan, Callum Maher , Mike Healy, Leon Butler, John Dillon, Diarmuid Coffey, George Stallard, Ultan Conroy and Declan Coffey.

Kilkenny swimming club wished their two senior swimmers, |Colm Dowling and Mickey McCarthy the best of luck in Norway in the Lambertseter short course swimming gala in Oslo this weekend.
