Great day for the Danesfort Ploughing Competition

Bright, crisp weather set the scene for a great day of ploughing in Danesfort, last Saturday. With an excellent turnout from Kilkenny and neighbouring countries the competition was stiff. Family and friends also enjoyed the day. Well done to the winners in all classes.

Results
Senior: 1st - Sean Tracy, Carlow, 2nd - Padraig Brandon, Laois, 3rd - Pat Brandon, Laois.
Intermediate: 1st - John Cottrell, 2nd - Denis Dunne, Kildare, 3rd - Cathal Brady, Kilkenny.
Reverse: 1st - Gary Ireland, 2nd - Brian Ireland, 3rd - Jimmy Ryan, Laois.
Farmerette: Siobhán Darmody. Macra: James Aylward.
Under 28: 1st - John Murphy, Carlow, 2nd - Pj Hartley, Kilkenny.
3 Furrow: Tom Ryan, Tipperary. Vintage Single Furrow: Oliver Power, Waterford. Vintage Trailer: 1st - Walter Morris, Tipperary, 2nd - Sean Murphy, Carlow.
Vintage Mounted: 1st - Ray Clancy, North Tipperary, 2nd - Liam O’Reilly, Carlow, 3rd - Tommy Kielthy, Kilkenny.

Next up on the ploughing calendar is the Tullogher Glenmore Ploughing Match, on Saturday, January 27, just outside New Ross. Competition starts at 11am sharp. By kind permission of the Walsh family.
